Multi Year Accessibility Plan for Healey Transportation Ltd.

This 2017-2022 Accessibility Plan outlines the policies and actions that Healey Transportation Ltd. will utilize to improve our service to, and opportunities for, people with disabilities.

Statement of Commitment

Accessible Emergency Information

Healey Transportation Ltd. is committed to providing our customers and employees with publicly available emergency information in an accessible format, upon request. We will also provide any employee with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary.

Training

Healey Transportation Ltd. will provide training to employees on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of our employees, in a suitable and timely manner, at time of hire, and on an ongoing basis whenever changes to policy or legislated requirements occur, as soon as practicable. Record of such training will be retained by Healey Transportation Ltd.

Information and Communications

Healey Transportation Ltd is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs as they relate to the provision of our services. We will cooperate and facilitate specialized communication needs and methods, both independently and through our contracting authority, as directed, and in a timely and confidential manner. Healey Transportation Ltd. will consult with our website developer to ensure understanding and implementation of the required standards for compliance with regulations regarding Accessibility, Including a link from our web site to this plan and declaration of commitment to Accessibility, by May 01 2017. Healey Transportation Ltd. will ensure that, upon request, feedback processes will be provided in an accessible format, depending upon specific, identified need.

Recruitment

Healey Transportation Ltd.is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. Healey Transportation Ltd. will communicate clearly, and in an accessible format, or provide opportunity for contact for provision of information in an accessible format upon request, during any public recruitment.

Obtaining and or maintaining an Ontario B, C, or G class driver licence, and suitable background clearances, as well as other prescribed contractual employee qualifications, per our primary customer, are critical to employment with our firm.

Notice to Successful Applicants

Within the above noted overarch, when making offers of employment, Healey Transportation will notify successful applicants of our policies for accommodating employees with disabilities, as well as policies for accommodating return to work from a workplace acquired disability.

Informing Employees of Supports

Healey Transportation Ltd. will continue to inform its employees of our policies and any updates to policy, used to support employees with disabilities, including policies on the provision of job accommodations that take into account the employees needs due to disability. This information will be provided to new employees as soon as practicable after commencing employment.

Return to Work Process

Healey Transportation Ltd. maintains a documented return to work process for our employees who have been absent from work due to a disability and who require disability-related accommodations in order to return to work. The return to work process outlines the steps Healey Transportation Ltd. will take to facilitate the return to work and will include documented individual accommodation plans as part of the process. This return to work process will not replace or override any other return to work process created by or under any other overarching statute or contractual requirement that Healey Transportation Ltd. is bound by. (eg., The Work Place Safety Insurance Act, The Ministry of Transportation C.V.O.R. reg. ,Ontario Highway Traffic Act, Canadian Criminal Code)

Performance Management, Career Development

Healey Transportation Ltd. will take into account the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities, as well as individual accommodation plans, when conducting performance management, and providing career development and advancement to employees, or when redeploying employees.

Design of Public Spaces

Healey Transportation Ltd will meet the Accessibility Standards for Design of Public Spaces when building or making major modifications to public spaces.
Including;
  • - Outdoor paths of travel, sidewalks, curb ramps, rest areas
  • - Accessible off street parking
  • - Service related elements like service counters and waiting areas

    In the event of a service disruption, we will notify the public of the service disruption and alternatives available.
